Are you looking to create a logo to represent yourself and your art?  Are you approached to create logos and murals for businesses?

In this course, you’ll explore your sense of self and translate your discoveries into a unique personal identity system—a toolkit of modular verbal and visual elements you can use to communicate the essence of who you are, what you do, and why it matters to your audiences.

During our sessions, we’ll touch on such topics as naming, brand strategy, messaging, and design history, then migrate to design principles and production.

INSTRUCTOR

Miles has been helping brands big and small tell their stories with panache since 2001. Over the course of his career, he’s traversed all aspects of brand communication, from naming to creative strategy to copywriting to creative direction to design and production. A few project highlights include rebranding the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, developing two apps and identity work for Ram Dass’ Love Serve Remember Foundation, remapping the customer experience of a major airline, and being the first editorial intern at The Onion. Most recently, he created a 300+ icon library for Dolby and unveiled a new mascot and educational children’s workbook for the National Psoriasis Foundation. His clients have also included 1% for the Planet, Caesars Entertainment, Four Seasons, Green Toys, Tara Brach, Television Academy (Emmys) and USA Today.

Miles earned a BFA in Studio Art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison—with a Graphic Design and 3D Animation concentration—and a Master’s in Communication Design at Pratt Institute. When he’s not trying to figure out how to resolve humanity’s crisis of communication, he can be found mountaineering, reading, singing, playing guitar or adventuring. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Natalie, and cat, Chi.
